London-based biometric authentication company iProov reports ‘record’ growth

A London-based biometric authentication company has seen the number of people verified using its technology increase 15 times in the first six months of 2021 compared to the same period last year.

iProov offers facial biometric authentication online, working with governments, financial institutions and other businesses to securely verify customer identities.

Founded in 2012, iProov’s patented technology ensures a user’s real presence online to ensure they are the right fit.

Growth was driven by demand from organizations needing to verify the identity of users online to prevent fraud.

Andrew Bud, Founder and CEO of iProov commented: “The dramatic acceleration of the digital identity market, caused by the pandemic, has demonstrated our market leadership based on our unparalleled usability, inclusiveness and resilient security, and the extraordinary scalability of our platform. “

The company established a global presence with offices in the UK, US and Singapore, growing its global team by 25% to 85.

IProov customers include the US Department of Homeland Security, the UK Home Office and the UK National Health Service (NHS).

As of 2020, iProov has allowed users in England to create an NHS connection remotely and securely.

A user scans their ID, such as a passport or valid driver’s license, and then performs a brief iProov facial check to confirm their identity, giving them secure access to the NHS app’s services.

As of May 2021, this includes the COVID vaccination status service.
